Put a Spring in Your Step for S/S 2011!

Spring has now most definitely arrived…

The evenings are getting longer and brighter; the weather is sunnier; there’s a certain sense of optimism and excitement in the air.

And, is it my imagination, or are the bird sounding that extra bit cheery and chirpy these mornings?!

The long dark evenings have vanished and the chit-chat of bikinis and upcoming hols has begun!

But, while it’s clear there’s absolutely loads to celebrate at this fun and fab time of the year, it’s not always the easiest time for those of us who tend to suffer from ‘seasonal transitional wardrobe management issues’. More commonly referred to as ‘STWMI’, or otherwise known as a completely fictitious condition I’ve just made up this very moment!

Regardless, we think you know what we’re talking about…

It’s not warm enough for floaty summer dresses, but not cold enough to be wrapped up in Winter woollies.

This is a style pitfall that even the most fashion-forward women fall foul of, particularly during April and early May.

It’s a predicament we’ve been thinking about a lot recently here at MissChiChi.com.

And, being the genuine friends of fashion that we are, we’ve compiled our Top Five Spring wardrobe ‘Fashion Fixes’.

To help you get through this tricky time of the year, here are our very best hosiery ‘wardrobe update solutions’.

Read on for more info!

MissChiChi.com’s Top Five Spring Wardrobe ‘Fashion Fixes’:

1) The Fishnet Fix

MissChiChi.com’s ‘Perle’ fishnets are both sassy and sophisticated. What’s more, these seductive and stylish ornamental tights are a Spring wardrobe essential!

When the weather outside is not cold enough for a thick-knit dernier, but not yet warm enough for completely bare legs, think fishnets!

With vertical lines, patterned panels and an all-over zigzag design, this hosiery purchase will give the appearance of longer legs.

Wear these tights to suit your own unique sense of style – add a touch of class to a LBD or just wear as a fun and funky addition to a casual outfit.

2) The Floral Fix:

Perfect for day wear or for a glam night out, our ‘Ledy’ style is ideal as a transitional fashion fix.

A charming and sensual flower pattern cascades around the side of the leg; the back-seam adds a touch of femininity.

The whimsical floral design is definitively cheerful and Spring-like. This style is a wardrobe ‘must’ that will take you right through to the Summer months!

3) The Colour Fix

Nothing says ‘Summer is coming’ like a splash of colour in your wardrobe.

Invisible toes, an extra soft waistband and a flat seam.

These ‘Millennium’ tights are perfectly opaque with a matt-look. Tri-dimensional stretch guarantees a perfect fit without any feeling of constriction.

This is the colourful and comfortable approach to Spring legwear!

4) The Leggings Fix

Fashion with a twist!

‘Beryl’ leggings reveal true diverse style and individualism that you can't help but love.

Starting at the ankle with a sheer band, moving up to a two-colour black and white opaque effect, and with a lace detail at the ankle.

Pair with your Spring midi or mini-skirt, wedges and ‘Beryl’ leggings, for a chic ‘Summer is almost here’ look!

For a smooth silhouette and an anti-cellulite effect, choose MissChiChi.com’s HYD ‘Well 70’ tights.

Hydreductyl stimulates blood flow to the legs, while the anatomical heel, elastic lace built-in underwear, and graduated compression features, make them the most comfortable anti-cellulite hosiery on the market!

The ultimate complement to any Spring outfit and the ideal preparation for the beach or pool!

Paris Fashion Week AW11 – March 2011

Anyone who knows fashion, will know that during any given fashion event, the style found off-catwalk is always equally as important as the style found up there on the runway itself.

So, here at MissChiChi.com headquarters, we’ve been taking a close look at the latest offerings debuted at Paris Fashion Week (Autumn/Winter 2011) – that’s both the inspirational fashion offerings from the world’s hottest designers and the trendsetting elegance of the international celeb set sitting in the front row!

For those of you wondering what to expect next in the perpetually-changing sphere of fashion and design, here are some of our key observations… With a special focus on the chichi-est hosiery and accessories, we bring you the very latest and very greatest in Paris Fashion Week glamour and style…

More Statement Socks!

Yes, the statement socks trend that was so clearly apparent at New York Fashion Week, most definitely continued to make an impact at Paris Fashion Week.

In particular, we loved Ingrid Vlasov’s sexy socks – a stunningly chic element of her A/W 2011 collection.

Lace and layering combined with luxurious ankle and mid-calf socks, created a demure but extremely sexy look – we love it!

And remember, this is a really easy (and cost-effective) style to replicate!

Why not take a look at the premium quality sophisticated socks available at MissChiChi.com?

New styles now in stock! Browse the collection here:

Cute but with a definite edge!

Dainty clutch bags and demure mary-janes were combined with fetish-style fashion at Louis Vuitton

Latex, leather and visible knickers – this was a collection we were told was inspired by "hookers, chambermaids, wives, mistresses and other exquisite creatures".

But while there was a definitely saucy edge, floral patterns and floaty dresses added a softer twist.

Style-wise, you might be inspired to take a cue from the catwalks of Paris and add some new MissChiChi.com hold-ups to your hosiery wardrobe.

From the Celebs:

Gap-toothed Lip Brooches

Now, this is a strange one! During Paris Fashion Week AW 2011, ‘Look’ magazine reported that members of the ‘fash-pack’ were going crazy for quirky gap-toothed lip brooches.

And the inspiration? The beautiful pout of French actress and Chanel model, Vanessa Paradis!

But be warned, we have a sneaking suspicion that wearing Johnny Depp’s gorgeous wife’s lips on your lapel might just be a flash-in-the-pan fashion moment. Don’t go investing in a box full of gap-toothed brooches anytime soon!

Grey tights – the new black opaques?

We all know that Alexa Chung is the source of all things new and cool.

So when the very hippest member of the trendsetting pack arrives at Paris Fashion Week looking completely sublime in charcoal (and not black!) opaques, we realised that a new hosiery craze is just around the corner.

Pair with a nude-coloured mini-dress for ultimate cool-ness!

Check out Alexa’s slightly-shimmery grey opaques at the StyleTownCT fashion blog:

Emerging Trends: New York Fashion Week – February 2011

Here at MissChiChi.com we like to be ahead of the crowd.

That’s why we always take the business of trend-spotting very seriously indeed.

NY Fall 2011 Fashion Week has just come to a close and our dedication to monitoring all things hosiery-related means we’ve been catwalk-watching like crazy!

And that’s fantastic news for you, because we’re now right up to date with the latest designer trends.

Just like previous year’s, this year’s NY Fall Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week showcased a wealth of exciting and enticing new looks with designers breaking new ground in terms of both fashion and accessories.

For those of us who are perhaps a little obsessed with fabulous legwear, this was certainly an exquisite visual feast.

From raunchy and grungy to luxurious and refined, NY Fashion Week unveiled a dazzling series of refreshingly original designs.

We were practically drooling with delirious delight! In fact, with styles this captivating on the horizon, we’re already looking forward to autumn 2011 (now that’s being truly obsessed!).

Having said that, however, we must admit that there were also a number of trends that we’re still not quite sure about… For example, men’s exposed socks? We’re not entirely positive that the men we know will be rocking that particular trend anytime soon.

But never mind that… let’s look at some of the new trends that we totally love:

Polka-dot legs by Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs unveiled an edgy new fashion collection that featured adventurous combinations of fabrics and textures.

The use of lace created a girly and romantic feel, while leather and rubber added a sense of fun to garments… with a hint of fetish!

Meanwhile, polka-dot legs were everywhere! Little itsy dots and big bad bold dots!

See the beautiful hosiery here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1357158/New-York-Fashion-Week-2011-Marc-Jacobs-hot-new-collection.html#ixzz1EXsrNySn

Grunge-chic tights by Prabal Gurung

The Singapore-born designer presented us with a unique combination of draped and flowing gowns that were cheekily teamed with tough-looking grunge-chic tights.

This look really shouldn’t work… but, somehow, it definitely does!

Over at NY Mag, Gurung’s style is described as ‘Great Expectations Meets Brooklyn’ – not a bad way to sum up this impressive autumn 2011 collection.

Jola Wojtowicz, the Kinsale-based businesswoman behind the fashionable website, explains that certain styles of hosiery have enjoyed a noticeable boost in sales over the last number of weeks:

“Since mid-January we’ve definitely noticed that our more flirtatious styles have experienced huge interest. When it comes to Valentine gift purchases, our ‘Perle’ ornamental seamed tights and our ‘Sensual’ hold-ups have been the two most popular choices so far.

‘Perle’ are fishnets with a difference – sophisticated and stylish from top-to-toe. The ornamental seams, coupled with an intricate fishnet design mean these are classy tights that have a fun and flirty character. Women also love the vertical lines, patterned panels and the all-over zigzag design. This type of style gives the visual effect of longer legs – now what woman wouldn’t find that an appealing idea!

This time of the year, hold-ups are also another popular gift option, with our ‘Sensual’ range being the ultimate in luxury and elegance. These are silky soft to the touch and the lace-tops definitely add a dash of seductiveness. They glide on smoothly and effortlessly so they provide an instant sense of glamour and elegance.

However, it’s not just the so-called ‘sexy’ styles that are proving popular. With less than a week to go until Valentine’s Day, we’re also finding that many male shoppers are opting for comfy and cosy hosiery gifts, such as fluffy legwarmers and cute ribbed cotton socks. The chilly and wet weather is expected to continue for a little longer. It seems some men are choosing the practical and warm gift options that, as MissChiChi.com proves, can be just as charming and sensuous too!”

Remember, these are the type of sensual gifts that are sure to bring an added bit of romance to the most loved-up day of the year!! So, enter the code MCCB01 at checkout to avail of 10% off all purchases – offer ends 14th February.

Welcome to misschichi.com!

The style for the 2010/11 autumn/ winter season is all about a blast from the past. This season takes an exuberant and uninhibited approach to the term vintage. Vintage chic is taking over the catwalks and bringing fashionistas a rare mixture of styles and textures. The trend? Think '40s, '50s and '60s chic silhouette, meets '90s grunge. Add to that a splash of modern art in the form of pattern, texture and colour and you have all the style elements you need for autumn/winter 2010!

Vintage chic lends itself to exaggerated colours and patterns, which means large geometric shapes are key elements to hosiery style. Fun vintage accessories: the perfect coiffure, cat eye glasses and deep bucket bags are all the rage. And this season texture is king … and queen! Matching textured dresses, tights and bags are appearing in muffled tones of navy, plum, army green, brown, orange, purple, red and classic black.

You don't have to reach that far into the past to go vintage. The grunge look, made so famous in the '90s, is back with a bang. The grunge baby doll dress is top on the list of autumn trends. This slightly more contemporary version of the grunge style allows for free expression; but it also demands elegance. Grunge now means elegant layers and short tunics with lace detailing in delicate wool and silk fabrics. These are paired with worn with simple, single colour leggings. Grunge also lends itself to youthful and rebellious casualty with the baby doll dress making a full comeback for the younger woman. At all times the style calls for girlish fun; although – the colours trend towards slightly dark and sinister like in the 90s. Your best bets are brown, black, graffiti, bottle green.
Whatever the style – chic and floaty or fun and flirty – waistcoats, short coats, miniature coats or hugely oversized men-style jackets are a must to some your grunge revival look.

Stylists everywhere agree that the 'colour' of the season is Graffiti. This vibrant, urban look has found inspiration in trendy city loft-living and the street-art that slashes the brick work of cities like New York and Berlin. Graffiti, wall art and street-art are appearing on fabrics ranging from expensive silks to cozy wool.

This contemporary trend is not only for the fashion forward; it also offers edgy solutions for women looking to diversify their classical image. The haphazard and geometric style of the graffiti print looks terrific on olive skirts, straight jackets or elegant handbags.

What this means for tights? Fashion hosiery designers are using 'old-fashioned' base colours that give a smoky, subtle look to the tights and allow the graphic elements of the graffiti patterns to 'pop'! Hosiery is staying on trend this season by being smart, refined and glamorous while at the same time pushing the boundaries of colour and layers. Stick to the season's hottest hosiery colours: cherry, burgundy, navy cobalt, mustard, brown, which will feature best with the graffiti designs.
